What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu Therapy is a Japanese body work which has been gaining popularity and respect in the west since the 1960's. Shiatsu shares it's health philosophy with Traditional Chinese Medicine.
During a shiatsu treatment even pressure is applied with awareness and sensitivity to tonify weakness or disperse stagnantion. Shiatsu is deeply relaxing and allows the body and mind to open up into a state of stillness and peace. From this state of relaxation the healing that your body needs will take place.
Including pressure, stretches, visualisation and stillness, Shiatsu therapy works on physical, emotional and spiritual planes.
During a treatment you will remain fully clothed. Shiatsu is traditionally done on a futon mat although treatments can be done on a massage table if preferred.
